WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Blue Streaks have been considered to be one of the top contenders for the girls Fox Valley Conference track title. The McHenry Warriors found out why Monday. The Lady WarriSrs fell to the Blue Streaks 103 to 36, while Crystal Lake Central scored 25 in a triangular. "Woodstock has so many kids. They just point you to death. They get those thirds and fourths. It's a nice track team," said McHenry coach Dan Boland. Despite the lopsided scoring, Boland wasn't discouraged. "Not one of the girls didn't run a personal best. The times are coming down. Our goal was to get the times down and improve our performances." Delia Saunders tuned-up for the season with two firsts. She captured the 3,200 meter run and the 1,600 meter run. A defending FVC champ in the 3,200, Saunders was timed at 12:37 and Pam Bradley was third in 13:01. Saunders was timed at 5:44.9 in the 1,600. The only other first for the Warriors was in the 1,600 meter relay. The squad of Bradley, Jennifer Dunne, Selina John and Samen were timed at 4:36.7. Seconds went to Tra<y Brechel in the 400 meter hur dles, John in the 400 meter run and Cindi Kinsala iti the shot put. The 800 meter relay team of Jackie Ricci, Brechel, Lisa Lucarz and McFaul were second. Johnsburg pitchers hold off Marengo, win 5-2 Johnsburg baseball coach Jim Meyers had several reasons to be a happy man Wednesday night. Not only did his baseball squad defeat Marengo 5-2, but it was the Skyhawks first win ever in baseball over Marengo. Then add the 3-0 record thus far. "I'm just very happy to be 3- 0," Meyers said. Again, the pitching hero was Steve Banaszynski, who only allowed eight Marengo hits in five innings. Teammate Jeff Jayko came in the fifth inning and stopped a Marengo rally to help Banaszynski pick up the win. Jayko came in with the bases loaded, striking out the next batter on a 3-2 count. 1 "The pitchers just got the job done," Meyers said. "We made some good plays at some key times." Jim Bentz led the Johnsburg offensive attack with a perfect on a balk. Joe Majercik then singled in Bentz. The final two runs were scored in the sixth inning. After Zalke singled and stoled second, Olekszy walked. A single by Bentz drove in Zalke and Olekszy also scored on the play on a bad throw.
