SECTION 2 - PAGE 13 - PLAiNbEALEtt - FRIDAY, APRIL 13, 1984 m update on _ Schools Launch balloons to open National Library Week Thornton in Bethel College drama David Thornton, a senior at Bethel College, son of Robert and Nena Thornton, 6604 W. Mason Hill Road, McHenry, is in the cast of the drama "Behold, Believe" this spring. He is a speech communication major. "Behold, Believe" is an original, artful telling of the traditional Passion Play based on the gospels' account of the life of Christ from the trimphal entry into Jerusalem to the Ascension. The cast is made up of 27 Bethel students. "Behold, Believe" is under the direction of Jeffrey Miller and Susan Odgen-Malouf of Bethel's theatre arts faculty. The drama will be on stage April 20-22, 27-29 and May 5-6. The sky above James C. Bush Elementary School in John- sburg was filled with spheres of red, white and blue on Monday. The school's 280 second and third graders launched helium- filled balloons to mark the beginning of National Library Week. Each balloon read "U.S.A. Reading Team" and had a "tag- a-long" card attached to it. The card gives the name and ad dress of the student-sender. Hopefully, after the balloons burst and fall to earth, finders can return the remains of the big launch to the original senders. "The balloon launch is Just the beginning of our school celebration of National Library Week," said Trudy Medendorp, Bush School's Learning Center director. "A book fair, a special learning center activity con tract, and a book reading con test are also planned for this week." The promotional theme of this year's library week features the Olympic spirit with such popular slogans as "Join the U.S.A. Reading Team" and "Go For the Gold-Read." The schools asks that anyone who spots a red, white and blue "tag-a-long" card on the ground this week take a minute to return it to the address marked on it. Receiving news of the balloon's destination is expected to double the thrill of the whole experience for the children. IN FRATERNITY Mark Mass, 4525 W.
