It is one of several methods aimed at preventing first-admissions to state mental health facilities Increasing vocational rehabilitation services by ex­ panding the sheltered workshop building by 12,000 square feet and increasing the program capacity by 55 people also is intended to reduce the number of developmentally disabled patients admitted to state hospitals for the first time. In the area of chemical abuse, the board's plan calls for providing crisis and acute treatment services by sup­ porting the development of medical detoxification services by the end of fiscal 1984.
