Route 31. Kathleen J. Shoevlin, 907 Main St,Cary, told city police she lost control of her car while braking and slid into the southbound lane. Hie Shoevlin vehicle struck a car driven by David J. Un­ derwood, 1010 Kenilworth, Round Lake , No injuries were reported. A two-car collision on Elm Street, at Ramble Road, also resulted in a citation for Carl B. Frank, 812 Wiltshire, McHenry. Frank was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an ac­ cident. The driver of the other car, David F. Grant, 3649 Flambeau, Rockford, , IL, said he *$s waiting to make a left turn when his car was struck in the rear. No citations were issued to two drivers involved in a collision at the intersection of Ringwood and Thelen Roads. Thomas' L. Donat, 509 Livingston, McHenry, told county police his vision was -obscured by bushes as he at­ tempted a right turn. The Donat auto struck a vehicle driven by Joseph L. Delaro, 114 Hilltop, McHenry. Harry H. Dobry was ticketed for failure to yield the right-of- way after his car pulled out from Weingart Road into the path of an oncoming truck. FIRE PROTECTION A total of 34 Illinois protection agencies are share $122,000 in federal mat­ ching funds appropriated under provisions of the Rural Com­ munity Fire Protection Grant program, according to the Illinois Department of Con­ servation. Traffic accidents investigated by the McHenry County sheriffs police Thursday resulted in several victims being tran­ sported to area hospitals. • Jeff T. Hickey, 23, of Roselle, and three passengers in his vehicle were taken to McHenry Hospital by Richmdhd Rescue Squad following an early Thursday accident on U.S. 12 near Prospect Street, Rich­ mond. Police reported Hickey lost control of his southbound van, which left the road and roDed over. Hickey was cited for improper lane usage and driving under the influence. Police said the van was destroyed in the accident. Rodney B. Naber, 20, of 4118 S. Ridgeway, Ringwood, was taken to McHenry Hospital following a motorcycle accident about 3:30 a.m. Thursday on Barnard Mill Road at the South Ridgeway intersection. Naber told sheriffs police his machine started to slide on loose gravel when he braked for a stop sign. The motorcycle skidded into a ditch. Three people were taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle accident on Greenwood Road at Tryon Grove Road in Hebron Township. Michael L. Gannon, 26, and his passenger, Linda L. Gannon, 22, of 11604 Maple Avenue, Hebron, were taken to Memorial Hospital, Woodstock, by Hebron Rescue Squad, which also transported John Cappos, 57, of 2610 Martin Drive, Richmond, to McHenry Hospital. According to the police report, the Cappos car pulled out from Tryop Grove Road into the path of the Gannon pickup truck. ^ffgeneral^^™ News Fire damages laundrota t̂ Plaindealer news service A fire caused by equipment malfunction gutted Royal Laundry Systems Inc., Harvard, early Friday morning, causing extensive damage to the* 15,000- square-foot metal\building. No one was reported injured in die blaze. The, fire apparently started when a clothes dryer or linen folder malfunctioned after it was turned off, Harvard Police Chief Bill Gibson said. He said it appears an electrical short on the machine ignited the building. The north end of the buildiflg was engulfed in flamqji, ac­ cording to Harvard Fire Chief Bud McCorinell, when the are was spotted at 12:18 a.m. from a nearby residence.
