This will be the first contingent to be examined during the month of May. Among the names, we note two high school members who will be graduating on June 2. They are Harold Michels and Arthur Jackson. Another McHenry man is Eugene Freund. The McHenry Township quota for the Fifth War Loan, which begins June 12 and extends to July 8, was set this week at $277,825. It is hoped that ap proximately 42 percent of this figure will be represented by E bond sales. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of May 14, 1950) « A proposal for assistance to provide police patrol of the Fox River this summer met with opposition. Supervisor LeRoy Smith, McHenry, said the first consideration must be police protection in the subdivisions and he added that at present they were not being covered. Sheriff Melvin Griebel asked county board members to ap prove $1,000 toward the pur chase of two boats because of increased traffic on the river. The two-story Latimer house at West Shore Beach, McCullom Lake, suffered extensive damage as the result of fire last Saturday. Firemen who were called to the scene believe a flue pipe leading, from an oil hot water beater to the chimney became overheated, causing the fire. The kitchen was a total loss.
