A total of 120 youngsters, each hopping for one minute, raised $3,200 to help those who have Muscular >phy. -«#" top five money raisers weretf Stacey Davis, $237; Amy, Gatz,$170; Joshua Serginia, $113; Scot Baker, $105; and P.J. Jantzen, $100. All the children received awards for their efforts in support of M.D.A.'s patient service programs. ~~ Cooper Kiddie College was one of nearly 300 day care centers in Illinois, (the first in McHenry), to support M.D.A.'s programs, as well as the worldwide . research into treatments 4 and potential cures for neuromuscular diseases. <3 For all of Mother's Love... Rohm,Murphy to attend- nference William Rohm, president of RAE Corporation in McHenry and Carole Murphy, Small Business Planning Specialist and Agent for Prudential In surance Company, have been appointed delegates to represent small businesses from McHenry ' County at tfye Illinois Conference on Small Business to be held on ' May 15 and 16. TTie conference will be held in Springfield and will give small businesses the opportunity to comment on, and„ make r e c o m m e n d a t i o n s f o r , strengthening the economic climate in the state. Issues to be covered include: taxation, government imposed costs on employment, women and minorities, small business development incentives, and international trade. •* McHenry Savings & Loan installs two new directors Two new members hav^ been recently installed to the board of directors at McHenry Savings and Loan Association: Paul A. Dwyer and Professor Walt J. Woerheide. They replace A1 Goebbert and Robert Winkle, who served many years at the savings and loan. ^ „ Dwyer is vice president- controller of the Henry Crown (Illinois) and Company Private Investment Services, where he has served since 1981. Prior to that he was the vice president of Financa-of Wescom Inc., treasurer^f^Zenith Radio Corporation and manager in the Small Business division of Arthur Andersen and Company, a CPA firm. Hie new director graduated from the University of Notre Dame, BSC Cum Laude in 1955, and became a certified public accountant in 1961 at the University of Illinois. He is a member of the Financial WALT WOERHEIDE Executives Institute, the American Institute of CPA's and the Illinois CPA Society. Woerheide is presently the acting head of the Department of Finance at the University of Illinois, Chicago Circle Campus. PAUL DWYER He has been a member of the board of directors of the Circle Campus credit union since 1978 and served as its chairman in 1979. / Woerheide has publisl^d numerous articles in the Federal Home Loan Board Journal, specifically directed at "savings "ftfeUKUoilrf «HUl v*ew book "The Savings and Loan Industry: Current Problems and Possible Solutions," will be released this month. He is a member of five dif ferent national and regional finance associations and has « received numerous professional ^ honors. Woerheide feels that thOf* greatest challenge facing savings and loans today is the reduction of interest rate risk susceptibility caused by market- oriented - savings accounts versus fixed-rate loans. A 1969 undergraduate of Brown University, Woerheide obtained his M.E^.A. and PhD at Washington University with a major in finance and minors in quantitative methods and economics. Mrs. Kathleen Marinangel, chairman of the McHenry Savings Board of Directors stated, "We're very pleased to maintain McHenry Savings' history of a strong, capable SUM! independent board with the addition of these two highly- qualified members."
