Others present to join in the discussion were members of the county zoning board, Chairman Ernest Schroeder of Crystal Lake and Supervisor LeRoy Smith; newly elected Assistant Supervisor Walter Dean; Superintendent of Schools Carl Buckner, City Attorney John Loose and City Clerk Earl Walsh. A beautiful coronation con­ ducted by the Rev. Fr. John Reuland took place May 10 in the form of a colorful procession at St. Mary's Church for the purpose of paying homage to Mary the mother of God. A large crowd also assembled at St. Patrick's Church to witness the crowning of the Blessed Virgin Mary in a special Mother's Day ceremony. TEN YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of May 10, 1974) It was all seriousness Tuesday night when bicyclists started off on signal in a race from McHenry to Lake Geneva with the diesel-powered commuter North Western train. Among the contestants was one young lady, Sue Johnson of McHenry, who was forced out of the com­ petition near the state line, at which point she was ahead of the train.
