MAY 111, 111 Fiesta Days, the 10 day gala of fan for the entire family, be highlighted by a "Rock and Roll Revival" on Theme Night, July 27. Co-chairmen A1 Smith and Judith Irwin are working on an evening of contests, trivia challenges, entertainment, and dancing that will offer something for everyone. "Whatever age you were in the Fifties and Sixties," Irwin said, "there will be an activity going on during the Theme flight entertainment that will make for a great evening." As with almost all other 1984 Fiesta Days events, the activity will be held at Petersen Park. "The new location and new, larger stage will give everyone better sight lines. An improved sound system will also m«k«> it easier to present an effective and dynamic show," said Smith. One of the highlights of the night will be "Johnny Vee's Cavalcade of Stars", an act which brings back the greats of rock and roll, in full costume and with special effects. Stars from Elvis through the surfer years and up to the Beatles will be part of the entertainment. "We have a lot of surprises planned," said Vlcek, who heads the Johnny Vee line-up, "in­ cluding the top 10 of the week, trivia challenges, and some special surprises. Todd Tony an, 23, charged with two counts of possession of controlled substances con­ taining cocaine and a charge of obstruction of justice, pleaded guilty to one of the possession counts on a negotiated plea with the state, which did not prosecute the remaining charges. Tonyan was given a two-year term of probation, fined $750, and ordered to pay court costs. Karen Melvin, 26, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of controlled substance con­ taining cocaine. She was placed on probation for one year, fined $190 and ordered to pay court costs. Judge Henry Cowlin in 19th Judicial Circuit Court upheld both negotiated pleas after hearing testimony that neither defendant had ever been con­ victed of a crime before and that they were not likely to be in the future. TOnyan and Melvin, along with Richard T. Albert, were arrested in R.T. Dees restaurant in Crystal Lake after closing on Dec. 30, 1963. A police officer observed an open door at the premises and discovered the three people sitting at a table with the substance which con­ tained cocaine. Albert pleaded guilty last month to possession of a con­ trolled substance. He was placed on probation for 18 months and ordered to pay court costs. Other events pertinent to those decades will be presented in contest form, such as hula hoop competitions and bubble gum contests -A wide variety of food and other refreshments will be available at the park. Fiesta Days, sponsored by the McHenry Chamber of Com­ merce, will run from July 20 through July 29. Several new events have been added to old favorites, and will include sports, Food Fiesta, sidewalk sales, Art in the Park, Teen Night, Family Feud, water events, and entertainment and activities to fill 10 days with free, or inexpensive fun for everyone.
