SECTION 2 - PAGE 4 - PLAINDEALER- WEDNESDAY, MAY It, 1964 Church Communal Anointing Mass set at St. Mary's church Compare Passover and Last Supper The Reverend James G. Gaynor, pastor of the Church of' St. Mary of the Assumption, will concelebrate a Mass of Com munal Anointing Saturday, May 19, at 10 a.m., in the church. Plans include rides and assistance for those needing help in coming to church. With the help of the priests of the parish, the Mass will not be unnecessarily prolonged in order to keep discomfort at a minimum. Following the Mass, a simple breakfast will be sponsored by the Christian Mothers at Knights of Columbus Hall. Encouraged to come are those over 60 years, the chronically ill, and everyone under the special care of physicians. Illness certainly includes cases of admitted alcoholism, emotional problems and even spiritual illness. When the Church cares for the sick, it serves Christ, in the suffering members of His Mystical < Body. The Church obeys the command of the Lord to cure the sick (Mark 16:18) in showing solicitude by visiting, those in poor health, and especially in raising them up through the Sacrament of Anointing and nourishing them with the Bread of Life. All members of the com munity are invited to attend. Actually filmed inside the prison, this documentary features the stories of four notorious criminals. Interviews conducted by Art Linkletter and the director of IPM, Chaplain Ray, focus on rehabilitation as a result of conversion to Christianity. From inside the gas chamber Jerry Graham says, "I came very close to ending it all right here." In stark contrast to his life of crime, he now directs a ranch for abused children.' James Williams served time in San Quentin after a gun battle with police. Now he's employed by a criminal justice organization teaching men "the way to go out," as he puts it. Another changed life is George Meyer, A1 Capone's favorite driver. Now 74, he counsels teenagers about the evils of drug abuse. And Jack Burbridge, once an enforcer for organized crime, is now a preacher. The film concludes with a look inside the gas chamber. This showing is free to the public, at the church, 4815 Wilmot Rd., Sunday, May 20, at 7 p.m. What do the Jewish Passover and Jesus' Last Supper have in common?
