Bicycle marathon planned to benefit Cancer Society The McHenry community will be doing its part to fight cancer on Sunday, May 20, when volunteers will ride a seven-mile course in the American Cancer Society Bike-A-Thon. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. this weekend. Riders may complete the seven- mile course as many times as they wish and collect pledged for each "lap". The starting and ending point will be the Pearl Street Park in McHenry. Many prizes will be awarded this year including a four-day trip toOrlando, Fla.,a 10-speed bicycle, free tokens to be used at Another Galaxy video game arcade, t-shirts and patches. A corporate trophy won last year by a team from Morton Chemical will be awarded to the company team which raises the most money through sponsors.
