Working on the car all winter, Carlton is a little disappointed about making the adjustment on his motor. "The car handled so perfect," Carlton said. This is only Carlton's fourth year of racing. He first got into the sport in 1980 after quitting motorcycle racing. He raced motorcycles from 1973 to 1978, giving it up because of age. Two years away from racing was all he could handle. Parkland track athletes advance to state Parkland Junior High School will be sending three track athletes to the junior high state track meet this weekend after qualifying efforts at the sec­ tional meet in Arlington Heights. Two of the athletes broke school records in the process. Trudy Milstein will be com­ peting in the discus after breaking the Parkland record of 76-2. She was marked at 83-4. Winners were the teams of Judy Smithson first with 226, Kathy Lundquist 232, Nell Fidler and Virgina Turner 235 and Espar Oja 236. Net scores for the day included; low A - Virgina Turner first 72, Nell Fidler 73 and Floss O'Connell 31. Low B - Kathy Greer 68, Carol Barnicle and Jan Blair 77; low putts Carol Barnicle, Be mice Dolce and Gladys Warfield 32. Class C • Speedy Neuman 76 and Ursula Cisliek 79; low putts Ethel Koehler. Class D - Kathy Vehring 69 and Betty Wayman 74; low putts Magda Hemphal. There were a number of chip-ins - Nell Fiedler on number eight, Floss Miller number 18, Betty Gossell 15, Judy Smithson 11, Kathy Greer 13, Betty Wayman nine and Mickey Farmer eight. Birdies were made by - Flo Miller 14, Carol Cooney eight and Barb Weber chipped in on 16 for a bird. Congratulations to the traveling team. Their victory over Brae Loch placed them in first, a % point over Floss Park. Hoping for a sunny day next Tuesday. Liz Chapel Hill ladies The results of the match play of May 8 in the Tuesday Ladies League show Fox Hole Tap is still in first place with 22 points. McHenry Favorite Sports is second with 19, Steffan's Jewelers has 17*, Acu Pac 15%, Mar Hay Costumes and Little Chef 12% each. Classic Trophies and McHenry Floral are tied with 10%. The contest on May 8 for team low putts was won by Little Chef with 137. On May 15, the bright sunshine was welcomed. But deceiving as it was, it was still unseasonably cold. However, either influenced by the beautiful day or the fact it was her birthday, Sandy Donovan (captain of McHenry Favorite Sports) got the first birdie of the season on 10. Laura Schmitt, captain of Acu Pac had two nice chip-ins, one on 11 and one on 12. Sandy and Laura also had low putts for the day with 14. Until next Tuesday, lets all stay in there swinging.
