Students chosen for induction from East Campus are Amy Adams, Karen Althoff, Erin Conway, Don Davis, Janie Guzman, Amy Honning, Michelle Landis, Bobbie May hew, Vicki Moravec, Kelly Ohler, Chad Peterson and Diane Wasilowski. From West Campus were Linda Thorson, Sheila Senn, Scott Williams and Michelle Zograpbos. To be selected, a student must be enrolled in fourth semester French or higher, must have maintained an A- average or better in French and must have maintained a B- average or better in all other subjects. French honor society members named Marian students do well in Recently, the Marian Central Catholic High School, students competed in the I.H.S.A. Organizational Music Contest, the regional J.E.T.S. com­ petition and the McHenry County College business com­ petition. The Marian Central Band performed "The Masterpiece", "The Handel Festival", and "Thunderer March" in the I.H.S.A. Music Contest. Under the direction of Ms. Chris Lord, the Marian Central Band received a third division rating. Lord feels "the students did well considering this is Marian's first performance at this competition in many years. The J.E.T.S. competition was held at Northwestern Univer­ sity. The Marian Central team, under the advisorship of David Antonacci, returned home with a second place in Class A. James Peschke qualified, with his second place in Physics, to go to the state competition at the University of Illinois. "We at Marian Central are very pleased with the student performance in the J.E.T.S Competition," said Antonacci. "The competition generates a great deal of interest in the area of academics." Marian Central business team took a fourth place at the McHenry County College business competition. Cheryl Walsh, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Walsh, Wonder Lake, took a third place in Accounting. Nancy Parsley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Parsley, Crystal Lake, took a third place in Shorthand I. Vicki Fabbri, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vittorio Fabbri, Woodstock, received a third place in Spelling. Andy Hartlieb, a fourth place winner in Spelling, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hartlieb of Wood­ stock. MONMOUTH HONORS TTiree McHenry students took part in the annual honor's convocation at Monmouth College. They were Brent Birkhoff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Birkhoff; Patricia Gray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marlon Gray; and Gary Selof, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Selof, all of McHenry. Both will be eligible to compete in the national com­ petition in Louisville, KY. Johnsburg students place high in VICA competition I The Johnsburg High School VICA consists of 32 members and it's three advisors, Jeff Jerdee, Chuck Schultz and Steve Pollock. After testing at Libertyville High School, 15 students qualified for state competition. Johnsburg High School had more students qualifying for state competition than any other comprehensive high school in the state. lliose that qualified and their field are as follows: Diesel Mechanics - Dennis Norton, Todd Knoll, Bob Dunivan and Jeff Rouley. Small Engine Repair - *foni fcebel, Tom Griffen, John Scott and Bill Sch- mitz. Auto Mechanics - Don Christenson. Commercial Art - Alicia Evertsen and Denise Norton. Commercial Sewing - Angle Barth. Machine Drafting - David Quinn. Bricklaying- Masonary - Steve Scbmitt and Jim Bentz. On May 3-5,12 Johnsburg High School students competed in the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America Skill Olympics in Springfield. Eighteen vocational centers and forty com­ prehensive high schools com­ peted in the Still Olympics that was held in the Prairie Capital Convention Center and the Capitol Area Vocational Center. In Diesel Mechanics, Dennis Norton placed 1st and Todd Knoll placed 3rd in the state. As a 1st place winner, Dennis is now eligible to compete in the National Skill Olympics to be held in Louisville, Ky. June 26- 29.
