Marian Central Catholic High School's prom was held at Chateau Louise, Dundee, II. Friday, May 4. The Marian Central Junior Class, under the advisorship of Mrs. Laura Spice, sponsored the prom. Students selected Patricia Luciani and Allan Van Landuyt as this year's King and Queen. Patricia is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.Raymond Luciani, of DEAN'S LIST Lisa Ann Benoy, 316 Shepherd Hill Lane, a sophomore, has been named to the Dean's list at Knox College for the winter term, 1984. A minimum grade point average of 3.67 on a 4.0 scale is required, among other factors, for inclusion on the list. Marengo; Allan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Van Landuyt, of Woodstock. CALL JACK State board calls for major reforms to retain educators Major reform designed to recruit and retain high-quality personnel in Illinois schools was called for by the State Board of Education recently. The board's plan is aimed at raising teachers' salaries, strengthening admission requirements for college and university education programs, and requiring improvements in job evaluation methods and staff development programs for practicing educators. The plan focuses on im­ provements in five areas: recruitment of individuals into education as a career, assessment of students while they are in those preparation programs, recruitment and hiring of prospective educators by local school districts, assessment of staff members by local districts and staff development, or continuing education, for practicing educators. 1 Although several of the Computer camp scheduled iT * East Campus McHenry boys and girls will be able to learn to use com­ puters this summer at the In­ stitute for Educational Research (IER) computer camps. Hie camps will be held at East Campus High School and are designed to meet the needs of children learning to use the computer as an educational tool. The camps are conducted Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The "basic" program is targeted to students ages 9-17 and will develop thinking skills and make programming concepts un­ derstandable with hands-on experience. There is an enrollment fee for the 60-hour course. The two- week camps will be held June 18- 29, July 9-20, July 23-Aug. 3 and Aug. 647.
