A pre-natal therapeutic exercise program is an on-going once-a-week effort at the Easter Seal Therapy Center, 708 Washington, Woodstock. Every Wednesday evening at 7 p.m., Lois Parez, registered physical therapist, conducts an exercise program tailor-made to the mother-to-be. Prior to starting the program, the therapist spends time with each registrant and conducts a simple, comprehensive evaluation. Individual programs are designed for a total group effort including points on posture, muscle strength, flexibility, endurance, breathing and relaxation, Throughout every phase of the program, brief discussions are held giving rationale to each step of the program and rein forcing the benefits of exercise to both mother and baby. Participation in the program requires a written prescription from a physician. As it is an ongoing effort, expectant mothers are urged to join as soon as possible.
