r Statistics show need for better bicycle safety By Sec. of Stele Jim Edgar A total of 32 persons were killed and 4,422 injured in bicycle accidents in Illinois last year. Ten children between the ages of 10 and 14 were among the fatalities, while 1,394 children in Safety hints: that age group were injured. -Make sure every bicycle is the correct size for the person riding it. Hie local Freese Walk is part of a national Walk-a-thon being organtad by Freeze Voter '84 and will be held in Barrington on Sunday, June S. Walkers will start from Barrington High School, 816 W. Main at 2 p.m. and walk a 10 kilometer route (6.2 miles) through Barrington. Rest and refreshment shops will be available along the route. Walkers will collect pledges for each kilometer walker. All funds rasied will be used to help elect pro-freeze candidates to the U.S. Congress and White Houae this November. "There are 25 House races and eight Senate races that are going to be dose, where the Freeze can have an impart, and where there is a clear choice between a pro- and an anti- Freeze candidate," said Sharon Long, convenor of the 12th Congressional District Freeze Voters group and walk co­ ordinator. "The walk is planned as our major fundraising effort to strengthen the Freeze Voter effort and to get these pro- Freeze candidates elected." Freeze Voter '84 is the political arm of the Nuclear Weapons Freeze Campaign.
