Miss Lin was discovered a la Lana Turner by a cast­ ing director, but not in Hollywood. Suzanne Ringrose found Miss Lin in an upper west side Manhattan eatery and told her, "We're casting for an actress on 'Ryan's Hope.' She's 15 years old and from the hills of Kentucky." The unflappable Louis­ ville native replied. "I'm 15 and I come from Kentucky, but if you're looking for somebody who comes from the hills. I'm not it." Nevertheless, the repar­ tee netted Miss Lin her first contract for a soap opera role. Previously. Miss Lin had worked as a model. She was spotted at 13 by John Casablancas of New York's Elite Modeling Agency in a Kentucky shopping mall.
