Cars of all siiM, shapes and colors overtook Peterson Park for the event. Amid sweltering temperatures, Fiesta Days for 1984 got off to a roaring start last weekend. Popular events like the annual bed races to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Family Feud and food fiesta met with newcomers to the summer celebration like the Hot Rod Siow and canoe races on McCullom Lake. Final tallies for the bed races saw the fastest bed trophy going to the Sno-Bugs, who were followed by Uncle Dan's and the Fashion Shoppe. The best looking bed, according to judges, was the fire boat entry from the Firemen of Co. 1 and their second entry, a beach scene, took third place. Second place was awarded to ERA Advantage Real Estate. The Old Bridge team, which had a side bet with Uncle Dap's (Wood stock^, raised the itawt fhoney for MDA, coming in with $2,012.38. In all, $4,417.49 was pledged and $249.26 was collected at the races for MDA. Five of the teams entered in Saturday's races brought in more than $200. They were Southgate Beauty Salon, Uncle Dan's, Moore Pizza, Kindercare and the McHenry State Bank. This budding young artist took paintbrush to paper at Family Fest, a new Fiesta Days event. The Youth Service Bureau sponsored the booth called, "Paint Your Family".
