SECTION 1 - PAOB 4 » PLA1NPEALER - WEDNESDAY, JULY IS, 1184 Pack With Any Purchase from SPRING HILL CRYSTAL LM Industrial inflation rate falls sharply in 1984 The rate of inflation in the cost of industrial building .con struction fell sharply between the second half of 1963 and first half of 1964, according to a Kemper Group survey. The inflation rate for' industrial machinery and equipment rose for the third consecutive six- month period. For the six-month period ended June 30, machinery and equipment costs increased an average of 1.88 percent, com pared to 1.19 percent during the second half of 1983 and .96 percent the first half of 1983. Industrial building costs rose an average of 1.06 percent between the periods ending,December 1963 and June 1964. This rate compared to 2.94 percent during the second six months of 1963 and 2.09 percent during the first six months of 1963. The com panies surveyed attributed the low building inflation rate to falling material prices and stable labor costs. Although apprehensive about consumer interest rates, the companies remain optimistic about the economy and predicted machinery costs will increase at about the same rate during the second half of 1964 as in the year's first half. Those surveyed anticipate building costs will rise about 0.26 percent per month in 1984's second half, or 1.60 percent in the next six months. They ex pect labor costs to rise slightly and material prices to remain about the same. One of the world's major in dustrial insurers, Kemper develops these cost trends through biannual surveys of more than 300 North American manufacturers. The trends are calculated by use of a weighted index, corrected for produc tivity, and include an in stallation factor. The'cost trends indicate overall percentage increases in the cost of buildings erected and machinery fully installed, for various types of industrial plants. By: Yvonne Beer, executive vice-president of the McHenry County Board of Realtors A second home can get you away from the hustle and bustle of city life - an escape to where life is as comfortable as a garden hammock or a walk on the beach. un. n sibin Physician opens Crystal Lake office ealtors ECORD Dr. Ty Stein, a board-certified internist with special interest in critical care medicine, has opened his office at 330 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. For the past three years, Dr. Stein worked as an emergency room physician at Little Company of Mary Hospital, Evergreen Park. He is a 1978 graduate of Loyola University's Stritch School of Medicine and is the son of Cook County Medical Examiner Dr. Robert Stein. Dr. Stein and his family live in Crystal Lake. There was a time when a second home consisted of a small farm in the country with a trellis and outhouses. Today's second homes have changed. Most are in the mountains, in the woods or at the shore, and can be either single-family homes or condominiums with shared facilities. These homes now rival more traditional "getaways" such as resorts and hotels. If you pur chase a condominium as a second home, you and your family might find that you have bought a whole new leisure lifestyle with golf course, tennis courts, private club, pool and increased security. Whether buying a single- family house or a condominium, contact a realtor, a member of the McHenry County board of Realtors, who will help match your needs with the supply of homes or condominiums available on the market. In vesting in a second home can be one of the most rewarding and profitable investments today and the joys of owning a second home make it easy to relax and forget the fast pace of the work- a-day world.
