Not so at the McHenry County Fair. The last day, Sunday, Aug. 5, is the date of that perennial favorite, the Rooster Crowing Contest. The contest has grown in popularity as each year goes by, and last year, nearly 100 people gathered to watch the spectacle unfold. Slated for 9:30 a.m. Sunday, the roosters and their entrants are judged on a variety of different grounds. The basis for judging is the number of crows delivered within a certain time frame.
