Despite all the alternatives modern society has to offer, his daughter-in- law doesn't believe the popularity of carnivals has declined. "It's a diversion from the norm," Skinner said. "People go to carnivals more than they used to." The most popular ride remains the Tilt-O-Whirl, a twirling, half-moon cage on a wavy track, Skinner said. There is room for the whole family.
