This year television will beam the results of the marathon and other events to a record 146 nations -- 24 more countries than viewed the 1976 games. The American Broadcasting Company predicts the Games will have a worldwide audience of 2.5 billion people, making it the largest television audi ence to watch an event -- sporting or non-sporting -- in history. Besides ABC, the host and coordinating broad caster of the Games, the Olympic Committee has signed agreements with the Asian-Pacific Broad casting Union (covering almost all the islands in the Indian Ocean). the Caribbean Broadcasting Union (which practically blankets most of the small nations of the Caribbean), Malaysia, the People's Republic of China. South Korea and Taiwan. The Olympic Organizing Committee will do this massive communicating job with the help of hun dreds of employees and $50 million in computers. And the games will get corporate help from some biggies. AT & T will provide the telecommunications system, and IBM will donate the office systems equipment and personal computers. Motorola is donating the radio communications equipment, and Pacific Bell's fiber optic system will add thousands' of phone lines. Xerox copiers and telecopiers wilt churn out thour sands of pages every day and MCI is responsible for the telex and international eletronic message services. Getting back to the numbers game, the commit tee also announced that 122 nations will send 7.400 athletes to compete, equaling the 1976 Montreal Games' total of 122 nations, but more than 1976's 7.147 contestants. ©Compulog SATURDAY, JULY U © MOVIC: In Old Coliente' Boy it vindicated with the help of the daughter of the rancher he it accuted of murdering.
