AUGUST 8,19M Recently, the McHenry County Historical Museum in Union added to its collection of artifacts that document the athletic history of the area. Donor Everett Thomas of Woodstock donated several baseball and basketball team mementos that he used over 50 years ago playing for the Farm Bureau's first baseball team in 1933 and also on Joe's Aces basketball team of McHenry back in the early 30's. The items will be among many on display for the special Sept. 16 Sports History Sunday Program to be held at the museum. According to Thomas, Joe's Aces basketball team of McHenry took its name from Joe Schmidt who organized the team. The members back then included, besides Thomas and jmmsk Schmidt, Walter and William Kruetzer, Rolo Chamberlin, Ray Smith and Clarence Smith. The big- rival for the team was the other McHenry team, known as the McHenry Amateur Athletic club team made up of Richard Overton, Harold "Zeke" Bacon, Gus Freund, Marty Conway, Jim Fay, Zuki Kinsale and Sib Whiting. Strain, 31, of 771 Sussex Lane. Judge Ward Arnold set arraignment on the charges for Aug. 13 before Judge Henry Cowlin in 19th Judicial Circuit Court. The charges against Straih, brought by Woodstock policy, stem from a July 13 incident fit the 7-Eleven Store on Seminary Avenue in Woodstock, where Strain, a truck driver, was making a delivery. According to reports, an undercover security agent for the trucking firm allegedly saw Strain with a suspected half- ounce of cocaine in his possession. The) agent notified police, who arrested Strain. He is currently free on $5,000 bond awaiting further court hearings. ^ r P O O L S N S T U F F EVERYTHING YOU NEED POOLS-SPAS-SAUNAS U.P.S.&D.H.L.
