Bride wore mom's pearls As the former Monica T. Kennebeck approached the altar of St. Patrick Catholic Church, McHenry, to be given in marriage by her father, she was wearing a double strand of pearls which had been a wed ding gift from her father to her mother that her mother wore on her own wedding day 35 years ago. Her gown was of white poly organza, lavished with Chantilly lace. The bodice was styled with a Queen Anne neckline, and Bishop sleeves, adorned with lace appliques and wide lace cuffs. The skirt was highlighted by a mushroom pleated flounce and five-tiered bouffant chapel train. Her fingertip veil was secured to a halo headpiece of white silk roses, baby's breath and tiny orchid silk flowers to match the bridesmaids' dresses. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard N. Kennebeck, 1408 W. Channel Beach, McHenry. The bridegroom, Scott A. White, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald White, 4804 West St., McHenry. The 2:30 p.m. sacrament of Holy Matrimony was officiated Saturday, July 7, by Father John Stringini and an uncle of the bride, Father James Weber, before an altar flanked by baskets of white, violet and orchid flowers. Special music for the occasion was provided by Kathy Smith and Ed Lesher. Attending her sister as maid of honor was Pat Kennebeck of McHenry. Bridesmaids were Joann and Michelle Kennebeck, and the groom's sister Donna WThite, all of McHenry. The maid of honor wore a violet gown, complemented by a chiffon jacket. Hie other at tendants were similarly attired in orchid. They each carried one single rose with miniature carnations, cradled in their arms. Handling the duties pf best man was Ed Bruser of Oregon. Groomsmen were Dave Byron of Wonder Lake, Mike White of Woodstock and Keith White of McHenry, They wore silver gray tuxedos and a rose to match the bridesmaids. TYie mother oftthe bride chose a dusty violet, fltor length gown and a wrist corsage of orchid and white roses and carnations. A silver gray floor length gown with lace jacket and traditional corsage of orchid and white roses and carnations, was the choice of the groom's mother. Following the nuptials, a reception for 150 friends and relatives was held at the Johnsburg Community Club. Special guests on this memorable day were the groom's grandmother Ruby Crawford; and an uncle, aunt and cousins from Memphis. Later, the newlyweds em barked on a cruise to the Virgin Islands, including stops at St. Thomas, San Juan and Porta Plata. Upon their return, they took up residence at 3707 W. John St., McHenry. The new Mrs. White graduated from Marian Central Catholic High School in 1979 and is a cashier for Eagle Foods in McHenry. Her husband, a 1977 graduate of McHenry High »? School, is employed as a car penter for McHenry Home Maintenance. Events planned for family and adults Parents Without Partners will hold its second general meeting Friday, Aug. 17, at the Algonquin American Legion Home on Route 31 south of Route 62 and a rap session is scheduled. Newcomers orien tation will begin at 8:15 p.m. Events planned for the family include an arts and crafts show in Fox River Grove and Rich mond Round-up Days. Invite all to picnic The Shammrock Club of Twin Lakes is having its third annual family picnic Sunday, Aug. 12, at Old Fitzgerald's Resort on East Lake Shore Dr., Twin Lakes, Wis. Festivities start at noon and include entertainment by an Irish music group that plays all kinds of music, food, refresh ments and prizes. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy a day of fun for the whole family, good food, good people, great entertainment and a super lake front facility. BETTY ZAMASTIL AND DANIEL SCHLOTHAN Announce engagement Mr. and Mrs. Donald Zamastil of McHenry announce the engagement of their daughter Betty Lynn, to Daniel Allen Schlothan, son of Mrs. Elizabeth Schlothan of Sunny mead, Calif. The bride elect graduated from McHenry West Campus in 1978 and the University of Minnesota in 1982. Her fiance is a graduate of the Los Angeles school system. A Fall, 1984 wedding is planned. Moose members hold picnic Aug. 11 large grill and they promise it will taste fantastic. Also, liquid refrelshments for the adults and pop for the younger crowd will be served. Games for all ages are scheduled, along with a hor seshoe tournament, and a full day of enjoyment is planned. This yearly event is the major fund raising project that pays for children's activities, so everyone is urged to support their local Moose. All members of the McHenry Moose Lodge 691 are invited to pack up the family and picnic basket and come, out to Petersen Park this Saturday, Aug. 11. The festivities will start about noon and continue ui^fl dusk. Live music will be featured during the afternoon at the pavilion. The Women of the Moose will sell barbecue and brats, salads and desserts. Legion of the Moose members will be roasting corn over a Marcia Mary Ball Circle to meet Because of the Labor Day holiday, the first Fall meeting of the Marcia Mary Ball Circle will be Tuesday, Sept. 11, at noon, in the parlor of the First United Methodist Church of McHenry. Elizabeth Rankins will be the hostess, and the interesting and informative on-going study "Women of the Bible" will be conducted by Mary Rose. The weather was perfect for the group's annual picnic and 20 members and guests gathered at the home of Helen Walters. •*>**« j i , Instead of having' the usual catered dinner, it was a cookout, which was different and offered a lot of fun for the enjoyment of everyone in attendance. The "white elephant" sale provided entertainment as well as funds for the treasury. The afternoon passed much too quickly and the ladies enjoyed the opportunity to visit.
