Nice way to spend a day For a change of pace from the hectic way of life today, a two and a half-hour drive from McHenry, part of which is on beautiful, scenic roads, will take one to Holy Hill, in Hubertus, Wis., for a relaxed and spiritual afternoon. Holy Hill is a historic shrine, a place dedicated to God in honor of Mary, the mother of Christ. It is also a monastery for the Carmelite Fathers and Brothers who staff this shrine. The exterior of the present church is finished with Penn sylvania brick and Bedford stone. The architecture is romanesque. The main church platform stands approximately at the same level as the top of the hill itself, which is 289 feet 014 w The Kishwaukee Valley Medical Group S.C. announces the opening of its Crystal Lake office at the COLLEGE HILL PROFESSIONAL BUILDING 4911 S. Hopes rise with flames The fund raiser for St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Johnsburg, known as "Winner's Circle-Landmark Campaign," struck a significant day last week when Father John C. Holdren, pastor, burned the first $100,000 outstanding note due on a $1,000,000 debt of the parish. The Winner's Circle is a program designed by the St. John the Baptist Endowment Society to raise $1,000,000. In the first five weeks of the campaign, over 40 percent of the goal has been reached. For more information, call the Winner's Circle office at 2302 W. Church St., McHenry, 344-5650. St. John's history dates back to 1841 when early settlers organized St. John's and built the first chapel in 1843. Since that time, St. John's has been a landmark in the community and is responsible for Johnsburg as ; it is today. * k St. John's church, built in 1900 to replace the 1867 church' (which was destroyed by fire)', was completely restored in the; late 1970's. Although $600,000 ^ was raised at that time, no one could forsee the 18-19-20 percent interest rates which were soon to come and which led to the debt as it stands today.
