By Beverly Smith Political observers will debate party differences during this political season, but television coverage of the Democratic and Republican conventions will be fairly homogenous. The networks anticipate that the schedule and style of their coverage for the Republican convention will be approximately the same as it was for the Democrat's San Francisco show -- roughly 9 to 11 p.m. (EDT) each night. NBC News spokesman Bill McAndrew says. "We reserve the right to start earlier or run later, although affiliates will have the option of breaking off for their own programming." Tom Brokaw will anchor. John Chancellor will pro vide commentary, and Roger Mudd will report from the podium. Floor reporters will be Ken Bode. Connie Chung, Don Oliver and Chris Wallace. Jeff Gralnick. ABC's vice president and executive producer of political programming, says: "At the Democratic convention, we covered live those events that were news, newsmaking or newsworthy inside the convention. We went to San Francisco not to cover a convention, but the news within the convention." Peter Jenn ings and David Brinkley will anchor again.
