It is expected that the high school will have the largest enrollment in its history this year, which will probably ex­ ceed the 200 mark. The roster of teachers includes one new in­ structor: Miss May Justen. Others are Miss Helen Stevens, Miss Lillian Doherty, F.S. Orr, L.J. McCracken, Clarence Anglese, Miss Dorothea Holden, Miss Margaret O'Gara. The school nurse is Mrs. Joanne Rulien and the Music director is W.N. Sears. In the grade school, teachers include M L. Schoenholtz, Miss Mary Kinney, Miss Catherine Walsh, Miss Mary Booth, Miss Nellie Doherty, Miss Alice Ward, Miss Genevieve Knox and Miss Marie Ropp. James J Marshall was elected commander of the McHenry Post, American Legion, at the annual election of officers held Monday night. Ed Conway was elected Vice- Commander; Arthur Smith, Finance Officer; John Dreymiller, Chaplain; Morris Taxman. Sergeant-at-Arms and Fred C. Schoewer, Adjutant. The Woman's Democratic Club of McHenry will present its second annual style show on Aug. 24 at the McHenry Country Club. Adult models include Fiesta Day queen, Miss Carol Frisby. Also Carol Bolger, James Glosson, Ray Smith, Georgia Steuben, Carol Jepsen, Richard Wilhelm, William Pries, Jr. and Howard Weiss and the Misses Judy Bauer and Karen Olson. TEN YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of Aug. 23, 1974) Herbert (Bert) Harrison of 1925 N. Woodlawn Park, McHenry, was one of the big winners in the first drawing of the Bonanza game in the new state lottery last Thursday. Bert received two checks, one for $1,000 which wa given to all 36 lucky candidates, and the other for the remainder of his $10,000 prize money. Top awards in the lottery were for $300,000 and $50,000. There were seven $10,000 winners in addition to Harrison. The appointment of postal careerist, June N. Oxtoby as postmaster of Ringwood was announced Friday by Clarence G. Gels, Postmaster General of the 13-state central region, ef­ fective Aug. 15. The McHenry City Council agreed Monday night to pur­ chase the Lakeland Park Water comapny from Robino Ladd for $67,000. Aldermen Bolger, Datz, Harker, Pepping, Rogers and Wegener vofed "yes". Alder­ men Howard and Hromec cast1 "no" votes. In the Musin' and Meanderin' column Lynn Tonilinson of McHenry was given good wishes as she made her bid for the title of State Dairy Princess. At the fair held in Woodstock, Ringwood 4-H club member. Charles Martin received a B classification with his Holstein cow entry and Ferol Martin received a B with her Holstein yearling entry.
