The Departmnent of Revenue collects the one percent local it back sales tax and to the dtloo. "IMs measure will help us solve the problem; a problem that creates headaches for both the department and local governments," Thompson said. "House Bill 2360 will require retailers to provide specific addresses and names for each retail location to ensure that the department has an accurate list from which to distribute the tax dollars." Under the terms of the bill, the list put together for each municipality will be checked by the appropriate municipality, the municipality will then notify the department of any changes to be made on the list. The cost to the state would be about $800,000 in FY 1985 for system development and $300,000 to $500,000 annually for mailing and list updates. Area physician opens new practice at medical center Former resident named to state job training board A former McHenry resident has been recently named by Governor James Thompson to the board of directors of the Prairie State 2000 Fund. The program, signed into law by the governor in 1983, is an economic development plan in which the unemployed can be trained and the employed learn new skills. Under the program, funds for tuition expenses and training programs will be drawn from the Prairie State 2000 Fund, created through the con tributions of Illinois employers, who can, in turn, deduct 125 percent of their contribution from their Illinois income tax levy. In addition, certified job training programs supported or offered by employers would be eligible for reimbursement by the Fund. Among the four persons named to the board was Robert English of Lisle, formerly of McHenry. In January, English resigned his vice presidency at Joliet Junior College and now works as a consultant and president of English and Associates, a financial and iter consulting firm, iglish also serves as treasurer of .'oliet Junior College and is treasurer of Morraine Valley Community College in Palos Heights. He has served on the faculty of Northern Illinois University and has been dean of business and administrative affairs at Morton College in Cicero. English's term on the state board will end July 1, 1987. NoraC. O'Malley, president of Northern Illinois Medical Center (NIMC), announced recently that Sanjukpa Mitra, MD, has joined the staff of the new regional medical center. Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Mitra also specializes in pulmonary disease and is board-eligible for certification in this field.> Dr. Mitra completed her undergraduate and early medical school training in India and for the past five years has completed her internship and residency in Illinois. She is a graduate of the University of Health Sciences-Chicago Medical School, where she completed a fellowship in pulmonary medicine. Dr. Mitra will be in practice with her husband, Dr. P.K. Mitra, a specialist in general and vascular surgery. Her office will be at Suite B, 4318 W. Crystal Lake Road, McHenry. She is a member of The American College of Physicians, The American College of Chest Physicians and The American Thoracic Society. SANJUKPA MITRA, MD State's finances are in sound shape State Comptroller Roland Burris reported recently that the balance of the state's general fund at the end of July was the highest month-end balance in four-years. He also commented that the balance of $358 million was the eighth consecutive month the balance was above the $200 million "warning level." Temporary increases in the personal and corporate state income taxes and an adjustment in the sales tax rate has helped to boost the general fund balance throughout FY 1984. While revenues reached record highs, Burris noted that spending also jumped to a new record, preventing any dramatic improvement in the general fund balance over previous years. 13m moQ-mm row DA™ brand •iSSS b f«°8- We're Turning Prices UPSIDE-DOWN ON ISO BRAND NEW CARS A TRUCKS!
