SECTION 1 - PAGE 1 - PLA1NDEALER - FRIDAY, AUGUST 24,1984 Church Hold seminar on teaching children 'A Wise Teacher Makes Training a Joy" is the theme of a teaching seminar which will be offered at Nativity Lutheran Church, 3506 E. Wonder Lake Rd., Aug. 28,29 and 30, from 7 to 9: SO nightly. The seminar will be led by Joyce Lamb, a Christian education specialist who has conducted over 300 seminars throughout the United States and Canada. This event is co-sponsored by Faith Presbyterian Church, 2107 W. Lincoln Rd., McHenry, and Nativity Lutheran Church, Wonder Lake, in an attempt to encourage all local churches and denominations to attend and take advantage of the teaching expertise Lamb has to offer. All parents, teachers and anyone who works regularly with children are invited to attend, as well as young parents who can learn techniques of listening and communicating more effectively in the home. Participants will learn the basics of good teaching. techniques and new methods to increase communication abilities. They will take part in a variety of methods, including using an overhead projector for feedback, art and instructions, creative writing, puppetry, using music as a springboard for sharing, and dramatizing real- life situations. In addition, group Bible drama, the art of asking questions, and life class demonstrations will be covered. Seventeen to become lay ministers At a special ceremony during the 11 a.m. Mass Sunday, Aug. 26, in St Peter's Church, Spring Grove, 17 parishioners will receive deputation as Lay Ministers. They are Gary Kinsch, Ed ward Lilla, Kathleen Wehrbeim, Donald Wehrheim, Agnes Kent, Beverly Schmitt, Felicia Sobie, Albert Napolitano, Ray Pond, Denise Aubert, Carol Brown, Dolores Ellefsen, Stella Koch, Gertrude Baoaszewski, Phyllis Westphal, Katherine Brown and Leona Lilla.
