III. BRAD8HAW IS BACK -- After 14 seasons as one of the most feared an§ respected quarterbacks in NFL history, Terry Bradshaw will follow his former Pittsburgh Steeler teammates Rocky Blier and Mean Joe Greene into the broadcasting booth this year when he joins Verne Lundquist as an analyst for CBS. Although Blier and Greene did not last long in the highly competitive world of network announcing, prospects are better for Bradshaw. His on-camera career began in December 1980, when he joined Brent Musberger on CBS Sports' pre-game, half- time and post-game coverage of the NFC wild card, playoff airtd championship games. Bradshaw was also present as the network covered the San Fran cisco 49ers 26-21 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl XVI, and the day before the Los Angeles Raiders routed the Washington Redskins 38-9 in Super Bowl XVIII. An all-America star at Louisiana Tech before join ing the Steelers as the first player selected in the 1970 draft. Bradshaw struggled early in his career, fighting his image as a country bumpkin and bat tling Terry Hanratty and Joe Gilliam for the first- - string job. Once he established himself, however, Bradshaw proved he was worthy of his clips. He ranks ninth on the all-time list with 212 touchdown passes. He attempted 3.901 passes and completed 2.025 for 27.989 yards. In addition, he led the Steelers to a record-setting four Super Bowl victo ries: in 1975, '76, '79 and '80. At a recent news conference, Bradshaw said he looked forward to his new undertaking. "I don't want to be too analytical." he said "I'll scream and holler and jump up and down." ©computes SATURDAY, AUG. 2S m New Fat Albert Show 0 Kidding Around O Wrangler Country Showdown O S ) ® N F L P r e - S e a s o n Football: Washington at Now Orieans © Woman's Tennis: 19M Mayors' Challenge Canadian Open - Semifinals from Montreal, Quebec © Man Who Loved Bears © MOVIE: Taking Off A satiric look ot a runaway teena ger in the 1960's.
