He was 68 years old, born in San Fran­ cisco, Calif. Feb. 5,1916, the son of Leslie and Mabel (Kolmos) Lewis.*. ». Mr. Lewis lived in McHenry about nine years, having come from Niles, HI. He was a retired beer distributing company salesman. While in McHenry he had worked six years for Payton Chevrolet Sales and two years at Carestoel Care Center. He was a WW II U.S. Navy veteran; member of McHenry American Legion Post 491; and Knights of Columbus, Niles, 111. Surviving are his wife, the former Madge Kubick, whom he married in Chicago in 1941; two sons, James D. (Patricia Ann) of Elk Grove Village, 111. and Dan G. (Carol) Fort Morgan, Colo.; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Madelynn) Wieczorek of McHenry; four granchildren, Mark and Mary Ann Lewis and Kelly and Lindsy Wieczorek; and a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Butler of San Francisco,. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, in St. Patrick Catholic Church, McHenry, with burial in Woodland Cemetery, McHenry. Friends called from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesay at the Peter M. Justen & Son Funeral Home. Harold A. Dowell Harold A. (Shine) Dowell, 66, of McHenry, formerly of Crystal Lake, died Sunday, Sept. 2,1984, in Memorial Hospital for McHenry County, Woodstock He was born Mar. 31, 1918, Wauconda, 111. to Fred J. and1 Elsie^M. (Baseley) Dowell. Mr. Dowell had been em­ ployed by Serv-All Die & Tool Co. until his retirement in 1983. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Carol). Penze of Wauconda, Mrs. Richard (Sheryl) Ganshert of Wood­ stock, Mrs. Michael (Sandra) Henningsen of Harvard, Mrs. Larry (Joanne) Austin and Mrs. lael (Gail) Kolnik, both of foolworth, Wis, and Mrs. Alan »enny) Ball of Lake in the Hills; two/ sons, Michael (Donna) of Crystal Lake and Mark Wagner of Harvard; 14 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Art (Doris) Harris of McHenry; and two brothers, Alvin and , Earl Dowell of McHenry. - He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother. Visitation will be held Wed­ nesday at Querhammer Funera] Home, Crystal Lake, from 1 to 4 p.m. and- 6 to 8:30 p.m. wher services will be conducted b> the Rev. Richard Sargent in the funeral home chapel- Intermenl will be private. Rolf H. Bjerke -Rolf H. Bjerke, 66, of McHenry, formerly of Crystal Lake and Fox River Grove, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 1984, at Nor­ thern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry. He was borii Apr. 26, 1918, in Chicago, the son of Herman and Borghild (Hansen) Bjerke. Mr. Bjerke was a WW II Army veteran; had been employed as a machinist at Coffman Mfg., Cary, 111; and was a Justice of the Peace and Magistrate in Fox River Grove ffiany years. On Mar. 30/194$ in Chicago, he married thetQrjher Evelyn M. Kalck who survives. Also sur­ viving are four daughters, Mrs. Larry (Karen) Hintz of McHenry, Mrs. Irv (Kathryn) Kroll of Cary, Mrs. Robert n(Kay) Erickson of Belvidere and Ann Balentine of Tucson, Ariz; a son John (Jack) Bjerke of Marietta, Ga.; and 12 grand­ children. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and one son. Memorial services will be held at Querhammer Funeral Home, Crystal Lake, Thursday, at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Arnold Schaper officiating. Margaret E. Siove Margaret E. Slove, 64,2310 W. Manor Lane, McHenry, was pronounced dead on arrival Friday, Aug. 31, 1984, at Nor­ thern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry. She was born Dec. 28, 1919 in Chicago, to Harry and Helene (Schmidt) Krauss. A McHenry Township resident over 25 years, Mrs. Slove was proprietor of Stretch A Dollar clothing store located on Route 120 near Kent acres and a similar store in Lindenhurst, 111. She was a former member and volunteer of the local REACT group. Surviving are a son Stuart, and daughter-in-law Mary Lou Slove, Libertyville, 111.; son-in- law Wolfgang Berthold, Lake Villa, 111.; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Helen Hettinger of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter Sharon Berthold. Visitation was held Monday afternoon and evening in the George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home, where funeral services were conducted at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Roger Schneider of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. In­ terment was in Millburn Cemetery, Lake Villa. Memorials are requested to the McHenry County Cancer d or McHenry Township Dept. Rescue Squad. Maria E. LaVallee Marie E." LaVallee of Crystal Lake died Saturday Sept. 1,1984 at Northern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry. She was 66 years old, born in Chicago Oct. 13,1917, the daughter of Patrick and Elizabeth (Reilly) Flaherty. Mrs. LaVallee lived in Crystal Lake about 15 months, having come from Berwyn, 111. She was a retired personnel clerk for Magnetrol In­ ternational Corp., Downers Grove, m. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Maureen) Lagowski of McHenry; and two grandsons, Paul and Craig Lagowski. -She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur J. LaVallee, whom she married in March, 1981. A Funeral Mass was con­ ducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday inv*St. Patrick Catholic Church, McHenry, with burial in Calvary Qemetery, Evanston, 111. Friends called Monday from 2 to 9 p.m., at the Peter M. Justen & Son Funeral Home. The family would like Masses or contributions to Northern 'Illinois Medical Center.
