Angie, cheerleading •aptain, in band, the Ski club »nd Spanish Honor Society, jlans to major in Business at the Jniversity of Illinois, Cham- >aign Scott Losch, son of Ken and Norma Losch, and Diane King, daughter of Eugene and Eileen King, are the third couple. Scott belongs to the Ski club and wants to attend college in Florida: Diane, is active in Student Council and the Ski club and is not sure about college yet: Couple No. 4 are Christopher Byron, son of Spence and Barbara Byron, and Archie Read, daughter of Sumanta Read. Chris is active in football and the Ski club. His plans after graduation include commercial art or graphic arts with com­ puters. Archie is involved in Vica, OEA and the Ski club. She will be attending Wilfred Academy in Chicago. Those vying for the honor from West Campus are, left to right, Scott Freund, son of James and Doris Freund, and Geri Haner, daughter of Robert and Raquel Haner. Scott is on the - basketball team and he plans to attend Illinois State University, majoring in Ac­ counting. Geri's activities in­ clude varsity tennis, Student Council, and a flag member of the marching band. Her goal is to attend college in Illinois, earning Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Chemistry. The second couple is Craig T. Hill, son of Darrel and Elaine Hill, and Katie Gibbons, daughter of Kathryn J. Boyer. Craig plays football, basketball and baseball. He wants to major in Biology or Architecture at college. Katie is active in Student government and music. She plans to major in Liberal Arts at the University of Illinois. Couple No. 3 is Brad Snyder, son of Jim and Marie Snyder, and Cindy Kinsala, daughter of Donald E. Kinsala. Brad plays football and baseball and his future plans include playing baseball at college. Cindy was active in volleyball all four years, co-captain junior and senior year; softball two years; and track one year. She would like to attend DePaul University or New Mexico State University and major in Journalism. Next are Michael Bellich, son of Dan and Millie Bellich, and Laura Laskonis, daughter of James and Juanita Laskonis. Mike is active in tennis, mar­ ching band, jazz band and concert band. He wants to at­ tend college with a major in Computer Science and a minor in Jazz Music. Laura is pom pon captain, Student Council secretary, National Honor Society vice-president and Spanish Honor Society president. She plans to attend a four-year college, majoring in Biology and then enter medical school. Marian Central parents' group told of school goals The Marian Central Catholic rligh School Parents Association eld its first meeting of the year recently. Principal Thomas (ianders commented on the good >eginning of the school year and rnentioned a goal of this year as 'striving for quality education." Landers quoted a recent study in which one of the key characteristics of an effective Catholic school is an en­ vironment "conducive to learning in both the moral and and academic spheres" and where mutual faculty ansi student commitment con­ tributes to the effectiveness 'zanders then outlined the organizational structure for the parents new to Marian Central. He urged the redevelopment of the association for the purpose of promoting communication and cooperation between parents and the school, as well as providing activities. Other parents' groups like the Father's Club, the Fine Arts Boosters and Athletic Boosters will continue to serve as they have in the past. The principal also asked that parents interested in leading the association contact him at the school. Officers will be elected at the Oct. 9 meeting of the association. The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. Also at the October meeting, parents will have the op­ portunity to hear J. Daniel Mathein speak about stress management.
