SECTION 3- PAGE 6 - PLAINDEALER HERALD, WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 3,1984 McHenry residents chosen for roles in play The first play of McHenry County College Theatre's season has been cast and rehearsals are underway for 'THE PHYSICIAN IN SPITE OF HIMSELF'. The comedy was written by Moliere in 1666. It concerns a w o o d c u t t e r , S g a n a r e l l e (Michael Davis, of Ringwood), who is the victim of a pratical joke instigated by his wife, Martine (Suanne Fraser, of Crystal Lake). She convinces Geronte (Jay Miklavcic, of McHenry), a rich aristocrat, that Sganarelle is a learned doctor, and Geronte hires him to cure his daughter Lucinde (Karla Stueben, of McHenry), who is mute. (She is not really mute, but pretends to be to avoid marriage to a man she doesn't love.) Sganarelle creates chaos in Geronte's household, but all is eventually happily resolved, after a large number of comic antics and plot reversals. Also included in the cast are: Bob Wagner, of Cary, por traying Lucas; Joe Kalisek Crystal Lake, as Valere; Lee Gutowski, Crystal Lake, as Jacqueline; Chuck Varys, Crystal Lake, as Leandre; and Geary Smith, Crystal Lake, as Monsieur Robert. Directing the play is Debra Woodard, part-time speech and theatre instructor at MCC and College of Lake County. She studied theatre at MacMurray College, Illinois State Univer sity, and received her doctorate in theatre from Northwestern University. i The play is being presented in the Black Box Theatre, located in Rm. 104 of the Applied Science Building on the MCC campus. Performances of 'The Physician In Spite of Himself are scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18 to 20 and Oct. 25 to 27 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. CHILD CARE Do you care for children in your home? Six registered nurses from McHenry County were among 21 nurses from all over Illinois who recently completed an intensive two-week rehabilitation pursing course at McHenry County College. Worth 79 hours of continuing education credit, the course was taught by Carolyn Ackley and Darlene Edwards of the Illinois Department of Public Health, with MCC ser ving as hast. Persons in attendance in cluded Judy Wallace of Royal Terrace Nursing Home, McHenry. The continuing education course's focus was on the role of the nurse in rehabilitation and disability prevention. Included in the curriculum were prin ciples of rehabilitating brain damaged individuals, those with spinal cord injuries, Real estate tax sale date rescheduled . Gary W. Verdung, McHenry County treasurer has scheduled the annual real estate tax sale for delinquent taxes, to take place on Monday, Nov. 19. It will be held in the county board room at the McHenry County Cour thouse in Woodstock, beginning at 9 a.m. "Previously we had projected our tax sale to take place on Oct. 29. However, because we had a very busy second installment period our computer will not be fully updated on our payments until near the end of September. Times will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Leisure Village is located on Grass Lake Road, near State Park Road in Fox Lake. The show, free and open to the public, will have 25 tables to display many items, including Christmas items, handmade by the villagers. Many prizes will be given away,, including a Cabbage Patch doll. Co-chairpersons for the show are Fran Chonajcki, ceramics teacher; and Bette Woods, art and crafts director. Local nurses complete class in rehabilitation neuromuscular conditions and visual and hearing im- parirment. Time was also spent studying assistive devices to aid the handicapped. Homework for one day in cluded the nurses spending 24 hours as if they had a disability. Those who attended are now eligible to take the state test for certification as a rehabilitation nurse. Nov. 6, general election to conduct the tax sale." Verdung also indicated that the last day to pay this year's current taxes will be Friday, Nov. 16.
