All pet adoptions must be validated by the signing of a contract along with the adoption fee of $35 for all dogs or $20 for all cats which includes the cost of the spay or neuter surgery from a vet of HP's choice. However, $15 for dogs or $10 for cats is deducted from the cost of the surgery if done by a vet of your choice. When adopting a pet through Helping Paws keep name, address and phone number of the person from whom you adopted the pet. Make the check for the adoption fee payable to Helping Paws. Naturalist to lead walk through reconstructed prairie A nature walk through Phantom Wairie, one of tlje largest reconstructed prairies, will be led by Bill Wingate, naturalist, on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. It will be the sixth in a series of nature walks which be$nn in May. Pnantom Prairie consists of 40 acres of tall, wet prairie. Some of the plants which dominate the prairie include: tall coreopsis, rattlesnake master, and com­ pass plant. The event will offer a unique opportunity for everyone to experience the vastness of the prairie which was predominant in Illinois when the first settlers arrived. Wingate will identify particular plant species and discuss the ecology of the we 0 prairie. Crabtree Nature Centei consists of 1,140 acres o woodland, grasslands «n< "Wetlands.
