Members of the Harvard society will be on hand to talk with visitors in terested in the history of the Har vard area. The Harvard society was found ed in 1977 and three years ago opened a local history museum in what was once the old St. Paul Lutheran Church in the 300 block of Hart Boulevard in Harvard. At present it is open to the public on Sundays, May through October, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. They also make arrangements for special guided tours on other days by ap pointment (943-4566 or 943-6867). Among the items on display at that museum is' a good collection of military uniforms. They also hope to have a complete set of all Harvard High School graduation pictures dating back to 1881. Ac tively involved in bringing local history into the school system, the society is currently sponsoring an annual spelling bee this year, to be held Nov. 1 at the Harvard Civic Center. Both historical societies invite visitors out to the county museum in Union on Sunday, Oct. 14, betwen 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. Over 30,000 local artifacts including early farm machinery, numerous quilts and coverlets and exhibits of county businesses await the visitor. The county museum will close for the season on Wednesday, Oct. 31.
