Roger Schneider and Erv. Staveteig. Council retreat planned The church council and office staff of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 404 N. Green Street, McHenry, has planned a retreat for Saturday, Oct. 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lutherdale Bible Camp in Elkhorn, Wis. Council members, office staff, and their spouses will come together at the retreat to review the mission of the church and participate in short and long-range goal setting. A portion of the retreat time will be used for stewardship education. The council and staff members will have an op portunity to learn more about the group process and how planning and administrative groups should function. Assisting in leading the retreat setting will be Scott Campbell, Bob Mellum, Erv Staveteig and the Rev. Roger Schneider. Personal growth seminar set Women will learn how to more fully embrace life by attending "Embrace Life," a one-day personal growth seminar sponsored by Women for Christ, a non-profit organization, of fered Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2 and 3. "Embrace Life" will first be presented Nov. 2 at the Willow Creek Community Church, 67 E. Algonquin Road in South Barrington. Tickets for the Friday seminar are $15, ex cluding lunch. The seminar will be repeated Saturday^ Nov. 3, at the University of Illinois Circle Center, 750 S. Halsted, Chicago. Saturday's tickets are $20, and include lunch. The program will be presented from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days, and interpreters for the deaf will be available Saturday. Realizing the epidemic proportions of divorce, the Archdiocese of Chicago established the Phoenix office as a support-challenge ministry devoted to helping people redirect their lives after the experience of separation or divorce. This year's theme: "Go Forth...Share His Love" exemplifies the peer ministry of Phoenix by challenging its members to reach out to others with love and compassion as those who once reached out to them. Fifty-four workshops will be presented by clergy, laity, counselors, psychologists and local separated and divorced people. Areas to be covered are Recovery, Ongoing Growth, Beyond the Pain and Personal Direction. In addition to providing workshops for the friends and families of separated and divorced people, this year's conference will also feature sessions to assist the widowed in handling their situations. The conference will include four workshops, lunch, coffee and rolls, a Liturgy and a wine and cheese gathering. For more information, contact the Phoenix Office, 751-8353. Time management system with Christian concept to be taught The Altar and Rosary Society of St. Joseph Church, Richmond, is sponsoring a special program on "How To Find .Time For Yourself and Everything Else," Monday, Oct. 15, at 7:30 p.m. Presenting the program will be Fran Stake and Pam Voss. The two McHenry County publishers will tell how to use basic Christian concepts and a time management system to make the decision control one's most precious possession...time.
