Neuman, brother of Yvonne McGowan, of Wonder Lake and Edward Neuman, of McHenry, has been specially iden tified for early promotion to senior airman in the U.S. Air Force. He was awarded the new rating ahead of other members by a "below the zone" promotion board which considered Job per formance, military knowledge, bearing and self-improvement ef forts. Soe, brother of Gabirele Mikula, of Spring Grove, participated in NATO-sponsored exercise in the Army's REFORGER and Air Force Crested Cap programs. Soe is a vehicle body mechanic with the 601st Tactical Control Wing at Sembach Air Base/West Germany. DODD Navy Seaman Recruit Richard S. Dodd, son of Darlene L. Leven- dowski, of Wonder Lake, has com pleted recruit training at the tfavy Recruit Training Station, Great Lakes, 111. During the eight-week training cycle, Dodd studied general military subjects designed to prepare him for further academic and ofi-the-job training. UCHARD Jessy J. LiChard, son of Jim and Violet LiChard, of McHenry, has enlisted in the U.S. Air Force delayed enlistment program. He will receive basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. He is currently at tending McHenry High School East Campus. LAGOWSKI Air Force §enior Master Sgt. Francis A. Lagowski, son of Mae H. Lagowski and brother of Gerald A. Lagowski, both of McHenry, arrived for duty fat Moody Air Force Base, Ga. An avionlc weapons systems superintendent with the 347th Component Repair Squadron, he was previously assigned at Rams- tein Air Base, West Germany. St. John's sets Mass for sick 9 On Saturday, Oct. 27, at 11 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Church in Johnsburg, a Mass and Anointing of the Sick will be celebrated. The Bible says, "Is there anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church and pray over them and pour oil upon them, calling upon the Lord to heal them." (St. James Chapter 5). The purpose of the Sacrament of Anointing is a visible sign that the -church sympathizes with and cares for a person who is acutely or chronically ill or is McllKMO \i;m i VIM i just sloping down physically from old age, Any Catholic who is seriously ill at the time, chronically ill, has rheumatism, arthritis, is handicapped, has a heart condition, high blood pressure, etc., may receive the sacrament. The sacrament gives spiritual strength to those who are anointed through the grace given by the suffering Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. At times people have also physically recovered or have gotten better after having been anointed. In inn any case, it is a beautiful sign <f God's love through the churcll. A person of any age can. receive this sacrament.
