BELATED WELCOME Belated welcome wishes go to Fred and Debbie Vrtis who moved to Lakeland Park last April. Fred and Debbie are making their home on Pleasant, with daughter Erin, who just turned two Oct. 1. Thanks for calling us Debbie, and welcome to Lakeland Park. LOCAL VANDALISM Do you know where your kids are and what they're doing with their friends? Judging from several recent reports of van dalism, not everyone does! We woke up the other morning to find rotten pumpkins had been smashed on top of our brand new car. Fortunately, no major damage was done, but needless to say, we weren't exactly thrilled." Other residents called to complain of same or similar incidents. A few smashed pumpkins in the street is no big deal, but when these pranks start involving damage to personal property, people start to get angry. There were also several calls about the number of young teens congregating on street corners and walking the streets, often late at night, weekdays as well as weekends. With the foggy nights we've had, and the inevitability of snow, we'd hate - to see anyone get hurt; tend a "Happy Birthday" wish to those three and any other neighbors who have a birthday this week. YOUR TURN TO CALL Give us a call if you live on Central, Parkway or Clearview. We still need family dates and any newsworthy items you may want to share. Like many of our customers, you probably wish your monthly gas bill were lower than it is. • But we thought you might *ind some consolation, in looking at how much your natural gas costs compared to the alternatives. First, take a look at the cost of natural gas provided by Northern Illinois Gas, compared to gas costs elsewhere in the U.S. As the numbers plainly show, the gas we supply you is among the lowest priced in the entire U.S., even compared to costs in areas where gas is produced. Then look at the comparative costs of natural gas vs. oil and electricity. You can easily see, gas comes out way ahead. And current forecasts indicate that gas will continue to hold its competitive edge in the years to come. In this day and age, everything seems to cost more. And gas is no exception. But the real issue is, how much does it cost here, compared to elsewhere, and compared to the alternatives. On both counts, we hope you'll agree, the gas you get from Northern Illinois Gas comes out looking pretty good when you get to the bottom line. beautiful custom draperies. Save on selected fabrics.
