Richard Smith, McHenry, appeared in a story on the front page of the Chicago Tribune last weekend saying the McHenry man was one ofa patrol in the tenth regiment troops of the American fifth division which smashed Nazis hiding in a French orchard in Pouilly, France. Smith is the husband of the former Louise Kilday of Maple Ave. The Story came as a surprise to her because she had just received a letter indicating her husband was in training far behind the lines. A comprehensive ex- ition and discussion of itle 3 of the "G. I. Bill of Rights" covering all angles of its provision of guaranteed loans to World War II veterans for housing, business and farming will be presented in the court house, Woodstock, Nov. 27. TWENTY FIVE YEARS AGO (Taken from the files Nov. 19, 1959) Student managers for the 1959 football Warriors were Dennis Welter, Ron Marshall, Bill Vavrik and Ted Hornby. The formation of a new organization known as the McHenry Junior Police was announced. Members of the existing Crime Stoppers were urged to attend. Engineering plans are now complete on the sanitary protect proposed under special assessment program in the Country Club sub­ division. Dr. Henry Freund, McHenry optometrist, was one of six in the state awarded special honors at the annual convention of the I l l i n o i s . O p t o m e t r y association held in Chicago last Saturday. Dr. Freund received a plaque for more than 50 years membership in the association. Guy White was named chairman of the program for the twelfth annual Kiwanis Football Dinner. He will be assisted by Frank Konecny, Frank X. Gregory and Clinton Claypool. following receipt of a letter from District 12 Superin­ tendent of schools, Dr. Dunne Andreas. Mrs. Vila Benrud, president of the McHenry Business and Professional Women's club, presented a jue to Mrs. Bertha Stange recognition of her selection as Woman of the Year in the community. . Paid F. Jessup, A MCHS graduate, has just had published a new book, Competing for Stock Market Profits. Tne book will soon be on the shelves of the McHenry Public library, a gift of a friend of the Jessup family, Mrs. Ruth Buckner. Hie City Council voted unanimously to accept the recommendation of the Zoning Board of Appeals to grant special use classifications to McHenry hospital for three parcels of lana. Parcel 1 is located on the west side of Route 31, south of the Bull Valley road extension. The property is to be the site of lenry hospital's major hospital and health care complex.
