WEDNESDAY.DECEMBER 19,1984 Neighborhood news Wonder Lake: Postmaster ill Lorraine Murphy, our Wonder Lake Postmaster, is still home recuperating from her bout with a heart problem that happened at the post office in September. AAttng to her recuperation is a recent bronchial ion, but she says day by she is getting stronger and to start talking with her about going back to work the new year. Dec. 16, Lorraine will be ating 27 years of service the post office. Anne Sowers 653-9549 Vy • CALENDAR SALES Sales of the Wonder. Lake calendar have really been booming and it looks like many people are going to be eagerly awaiting to see if their numbers are drawn each day. The first winning number will be picked on New Years Day in front of the Wonder Lake State Bank on Hancock Drive. Since this will be the first drawing, it will be attended by many of the officials of the committee, along with a representative of the bank. If you would still be interested in purchasing a calendar, give Ed McMahon a call at 728-0338. PASSES AWAY Condolences are sent to Mrs. John (Shirley) Wright on the death of her mother, Mrs. Jager. The Jagers have been long-time residents of McHenry. CHRISTMAS CONCERT • The Northwood Junior High Symphonic and Concert Band, along with the chorus, will be presenting their Christmas cbncert Thursday, Dec. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria. As usual, the public is invited and admission is free. SHINY FINGERS If you see some unusual hand movements and some shiny fingers lately, you know you're looking at a Woodstock High School sophomore! They received their class rings Tuesday, Dec. 11, and they are being proudly displayed. Another high school status symbol. to show you are no longer a freshman, and another chunk missing out of Mom and Dad's pocket! for the sophomores. Christmas came early HOME FOR HOLIDAYS Sara and Jim Hearity will have a lively household as their family all start to arrive. Charlie and Steve are flying in from California Dec. 21, to spend about four days before returning to work, and Kelli will be returning from college in Arizona to spend her break. Bill Beaman came home Dec. 14, to spend a month before returning to Colorado where he is a freshman in college. John Raber will be coming home from Marquette Dec. 15, and looking forward to a holiday cruise with his mom and brother, Peter, right after Christmas. Joe and Janet Sullivan will be arriving home Dec. 15, also from Marquette, where Joe is in his last year and Jan is a sophomore. To all our college kids home for the holidays-it's nice to have you back again to brighten up our surroundings! SPECIAL DAYS A belated happy birthday to Rick Berndt, who celebrated his special day Dec. .12, after a bout with the flu. Happy seventeenth to Jim Wagner Dec. 13. In Wonder Center, Ela Cowell celebrated her birthday Dec. 16. Happy Birthday today, Dec. 19. to Gina Rizzo, who did some early celebrating Dec. 15 with some of her little friends who helped her turn six years old. Today is also the birthday of our newest teenager. Happy thirteen to our Patrick, who I still refer to as my baby. Happy eighteenth birthday to Chris Brown, Dec. 20. Dec. 20 also will find' Kim Powers blowing out birthday candles. Carol Thompson, the Greenwood school secretary, will be celebrating her birthday by beginning Christmas break.
