Sugar stamps No. 30, 31, 32 and 33 are void. All out­ standing home canning sugar certificates are void. Other changes hit housewives hard because they had been saving stamps to purchase needed quantities of goods. With the changes and voids, housewives will likely spend whenever stamps ace issued. Zena for military merit and for wounds received in action which resulted in his death. TEN YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of Dec. 24, 1974) A young McHenry mother was killed and her three-year-old daughter was critically injured in the crash of two cars on Dec. 23. The dead woman was Lin- daree G. Roepenack, 23. Her daughter, Jennifer, was taken to McHenry Hospital by the Johnsburg Resuce Squad and later transferred to Evanston hospital for treatment of head injuries. The hood of the vehicle stricking the Roepenack car flew up and obscured the view of the driver, causing the accident. The 6,000 th baby born at McHenry hospital since 1961 when the maternity wing was added to the hospital is John Tonyan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Tonyan of Antioch. He went home in his own giant-sized Christmas stocking in the arms of his mother, Barbara. By Angela Burden Plalndealer Herald news service At least one full day - Jan. 22, 1985 - and as many days as needed thereafter have been set aside for the hearing on McHenry County Landfill Inc.'s controversial landfill ap­ plication. Tom Huemann, chairman of the McHenry County Board's Regional Pollution Control Facility Hearing Committee, has set Tuesday, Jan. 22, as the hearing date for the application. The hearing will be held in Building D at the McHenry County Fairgrounds. It will commence at 9 a.m. and con­ tinue until 5 p.m. The fairgrounds are located at the intersection of Illinois 47 and Country Club Road, Woodstock. According to Huemann, if additional days are needed, the hearing will continue on Jan. 23 and proceed every business day, Monday through Friday, until testimony is complete. The landfill application was filed Nov. 27 for a site at the 113- acre Conley farm on the east side of Illinois 47, about 1.5 miles north of Huntley. McHenry County Landfill Inc. is a cor­ poration linked with the operators of Crystal Lake Disposal Co. State statute requires a hearing within 60 days of the filing of a landfill application. The Landfill Emergency Action Committee, chaired by Vernon Brunchon, is urging county residents to submit their written comments to the county clerk's office at McHenry County Courthouse, 2200 N. Seminary Avenue, Woodstock, 111., 60098, prior to the Dec. 27 deadline. "We must inundate the county clerk's office with our ob­ jections, or we will have a landfill which will pollute our water supply, increase traffic on Route 47, create tons of blowing debris and lower the property values of surrounding farms and homes," according to the LEAC.
