/ P«#e 4 - PLAINDEALER HERALD, FRIDAY. DECEMBER 28. 1984 V eterans attend planting Veterans' organizations from around the county were present for a tree-planting ceremony, marking the first trees planted in the Illinois Tree Trail portion of the Master Landscape Plan at MCC. American Legion units from Algonquin, McHenry, Crystal Lake, Fox River Grove and Marengo participated, as did the McHenry Chapter of the Polish Legion of American Vetrans. MCC students Trustee Jim Edwards, right, donated a tree as a living memorial to all soldiers missing in action. Handl ing the shovel is McHenry County American Legion Commander Gene Boxleitner. Viewing the planting are MCC President Bob Bartlett, left, and Chaplain Harold Vycital from the County Council. Inactive members asked to resign HSA committee By Ronald Porep Plalndealer Herald News Service The Health Systems Agency of Kane, Lake and McHenry Counties Inc. (HSA) requested that five out of the nine mem bers on the board of directors' Project Review Committee resign. The committee members were said to seldom attend meetings, and the bo$rd wished other board members, more interested in serving on the committee, join it. The committee chairman, Robert Pietrusiak, also asked the HSA staff to work with the committee on reducing the massive number of projects and the mass of paperwork con nected with each project to a size the committee can better handle. "The committee is feeling put upon by the volume of projects we are having to review and the mass of documentation that comes with each project," described Pietrusiak to the HSA board during its December meeting. "The staff will have to sit down with the committee to bring some common sense into the review procedures for projects," added HSA executive director Richard Janishewski. "The review committee has less impact with the board and the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board downstate because only four of the nine committee members attend meetings," said Janishewski. "Maybe some members of the committee wish to resign from it and other board members join the committee," he concluded. "We could do as the Suburban Cook and DuPage Counties" Health Systems Agency does and make it a rule that 60 per cent of the board has to vote to open discussion on a particular project^ *1 do not however recommend this," concluded HSA project review officer Mark Mayo. He added that the HSA project review committee and staff will present alter natives to the HSA board during its January meeting. The HSA board has already proposed the concept of "bat ching" to the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board, which would allow the con sideration of like projects such as nursing home projects within a geographical area, as a group, rather than individually. According to Janishewski, other Illinois HSA are ex pressing an interest in the concept. jp J * L M§. H j i iw joiNVStoa »w"w . Serving °inner su(,dsy r\»hFrv 5p.rn.tol0p.m-l .
