JANUARY 1.19»5 Helping Paws now has case number three, four and five to report on leg hold traps. , Number three-dog found on their own property in a bear trap. The trapper, returning to check the traps he had placed on the dog owner's properly, was apprehended and fined $500. Case number four-Four Colonies Condo area, Golf Course Road. Small black cat was dragging a leg trap on it's front paw. The cat was taken to a veterinarian who remarked "not another one." The cat's toe* was amputated. Case five-Near the American Legion Post, McHenry, another black cat found with leg in trap. We hope to arouse the concern of pet owners. Many of these pets were not "wandering" but on their own territory. Why not contact state officials urging them to outlaw the use of this steel jaw leg hold trap?
