YURKO HIGH RISK GAMES -- Anthony Geary and Shel ley Hack star in "Kicks." an ABC suspense-thriller about a couple whose attraction tor each other is fired by their mutual obses sion with high risk games. The two-hour movie is now in production for broadcast during the 1984-85 season. Qeery plays a wealthy eccentric who gets his kicks by playing games in which his life is endan gered. When he meets an equally eccentric college professor (Miss Hack), their affair becomes a series of dangerous games. The last Turns into a terrify ing struggle for survival in the deserted ceN blocks of San Francisco's Alcatraz prison. ©i "Starman" is "E.T." tor adults. The "Starman" script borrows from many other sci-fi films, ranging from "Close Eapounters" to "The Day the Earth Stood StiH" to "The Man Who Fell to Earth." At least the filmmakers borrowed from the best. "Starman" doesn't contain the thrills or special effects of a George Lucas or Steven Spiel berg space epic. In fact, it is more akin to "star loves" than "Star Wars." Most sci-fi films lack a good love story, but "Starman" more than makes up for that oversight Jeff drioges Is a much better-looking extraterrestrial than E.T.. and Keren Aden is definitely worth e journey across the galaxy to meet. She plays a recently widowed housewife m Wisconsin who'* awekene0 one night by the sounds of a child growing to menhood before her eyes. As il this weren't enough, the man turns out to be the image of her deed husband. The plot is fairly fantastic: An alien (Bridges) clones him self from locks of heir taken from Miss Allen's dead husband. He does so in order to trevel across the continent C and rendezvous with his \ spaceship. His journey across the cold for boding depths of space probably was nothing compared to what he feces on • the highway. The bad guys are the mili tary. The alien has come to Earth with the gold-engraved invitation taken right off the Voyager spaceship, but as soon as he enters Earth's atmosphere the military shoots him down like a very-illegal alien. The military men are carica tures: all shoot and no talk. ready to dissect with no respect for planetary friends. The film would have been far more palatable had the man been given the least amount of military inteMgence." "Starman" avoids a lot of possible pitfalls. It could easily have been "Mork from Ork" tor adults, but space jokes ere kept to a ptaoiant minimum. As Roxanne said in "Cyrako de Bergerac": "I have loved . one men in my life, and I have lost him twice." ©tsss Computet
