JOHNSBURG •(Continued from page 18) Monlini captures Legion tourney "Defensively, we did two things differently," Beck explained, "One, we did change our X's and O ' s a n d o u r a p p r o a c h responsibility-wise, we geared our defense to stopping Link. He's a three-year starter, and he can score. And secondly, we Just played hard. Harder than we have all year." The game was tied at eightafter the first period after Ni^hpis nail ed a 20-footer with four seconds left. Gray slake solved the JHS defensive puzzle in the second period, as two rebounds and subsequent baskets by Link stak ed GHS to a 12-8 lead. BUT THE GAME Skyhawks took the lead at 15-14 when Walsh swished a shot from the left side with 2:01 remaining, and a 20- footer from out front by Dust at the buzzer gave JHS a 17-14 ad vantage at the intermission. Beck credited his bench with helping to preserve the big win. "All our guys off the bench -- Husak, Shine, (Bernard) Whar ton, they all did a fine job." And in the end, the 'changed' Skyhawks captured, what could be construed as their biggest win of the year. "On paper, Grayslake probably has a better team," Beck conced ed. "But our kids were better tonight." , And that's all that matters.
