Charles Batchelder succeds Paul Berg as president of the association. Lark Wheelock, a senior at West Campus, was awarded first place in the Voice of * Democracy essay contest r sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4600, and ladies auxilliary. Her theme was "My Responsibility as a Citizen." A wide selection of adult education courses were offered at McHenry high schools from basic typing to portrait painting as well as auto maintenance ana crocheting. The Spring Grove school in­ vited community members to view on Jan. 22 plans for an addition to the school and remodeling program. Announcement of the annual membership drive for the McHenry Hospital was ac­ companied by a statement by board Resident, LeRoy E. Olsen, noting that hospital policy and practices can be more responsive to the wishes of the hospital's service area if there is a wide representation of the population.
