The founder of American Terra Cotta Company and Teco Potteries, William D. Gates, died Jan. 28 in his home. Funeral services are being held this afternoon in his home, Trail's End, near T4rra Cotta. The 81-year old former attorney started the business by making ornaments with clay, a frog being the first piece made by >Mm. Departure time will be promptly at 6 a.m., giving time to reach the observation areas between 9 and 10 a.m.. Each person will bring his own food for the day. An election will be held Kb. voter* approval for the sale of general obligation bonds in the amount of $300,000. It was pointed out that on one source of water, as is the state of current supply in the city, could prove disastrous in an emergency situation. The Illinois Commerce Commission this past week declared the McCiulom Lake road grade crossing as "extra hazardous' L and automatic fleshing signals have been or­ dered installed. * At a special meeting of District 18 (grade school), held Monday evening, bids for the new Hilltop school northeast of the city, were opened and discussed by the board. James M. Lennon has been elected president of the McHenry Hospital Association succeeding Henry B. Tony an in the post. Kinley L. Engyalson was elected first vice-president; Ralph Bennet, second vice- president; Dr. George Alvary, secretary and Mr. Tonyan, treasurer. The Chain of Lake-Fox River commission Friday approved an engineering .agreement which allots $120,000 toward the control of flooding and pollution along the river and lakes. Fran Olsen, executive director of the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce, recently completed a week's Institute for Organization Management at the University of Oklahoma.
