With this in mind, the iWoodstock-McHenry League of »Womeb Voters has devoted its -Feb. 14 Unit Meeting to the topic I"Groundwater in McHenry rCounty: Is It Safe?" The ^meeting is open to the public and will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thur- , day night in the Community ~ town of the Woodstock Opera Hie purpose of the meeting is o answer some of the many luestions McHenry County residents have about the safety rf their drinking water and the groundwater that is its source. The homeowner will learn how to have his water tested and how to avoid polluting his own well. The city residents will find out about the procedures taken by a municipality to insure the purity of its water source. Concerns over industrial waste, landfill leachante, and both agricultural and urban runoff will also be voiced. The homeowner's concern over the questions , of liability and insurance coverage in the event of well pollution wul also be voiced. Finally, the question of what laws there are to protect private wells and municipal water supplies will be answered. The meeting feature panel discussion with par ticipants from the fields of public health, water testing and drilling, insurance law, and legislation. Charles Boyles, an attorney with an insurance company, will have information regarding insurance and water safety. Robert Bucuro, the manager of an independent analytical lab specializing in water quality testinig, will discuss water testing and ex plain what the procedure tells about the water source. Finally State Rep. Richard Klemm will join the panel and discuss the legislation that has been proposed or will soon be proposed regarding ground water management. AquaLab will also provide a limited number of bottles to members of the audience for free water testing. It will be the responsibility of the person whose water is being tested to return the bottle. The League of Women Voters urges the public to aliehd the Thursday, Feb. 14, meeting, at 7:30 p.m., to learn more about the vital issue of groundwater safety. The residents traveled to the Holiday Inn East in Springfield for the 75th annual convention of the Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs. Kathy Forgas, Miss Sangamon County Fair, was Tickets on sale for Shrine Circus Hie 43rd Annual Shrine Circus will open Monday, March 4 at Medinah Temple, Chicago, for a three-week engagement. The circus provides revenue for the Medinah Charities and Activities Fund. Last year, tickets bought by individual Shriners enabled, 50,000 han dicapped and underprivileged children to see the circus free of charge.
