I * 3 McHenry County Sheriff's police report } FEBRUARY 8, 1985 By Angela Burden r Herald Newi Service Highways and streets in McHenry County were treacherous Monday and Tuesday, following a four-inch snowfall at the close of the weekend; however, local police agencies, reported only minor traffic accidents. McHenry County sheriff's police reported one accident call before 8 a.m. Monday and only one between 8 and 11 a.m. A spokesman at Illinois State Police District 2 headquarters in Elgin said that accidents were few in the McHenry County area. McHenry County Highway Department crews were called out at 3 a.m. Monday, according to James Rakow, head of the highway department. He said 14 county plows worked on the 220 miles of county highways. The county crews were to be out for an undetermined period, depending on the blowing conditions, Rakow said. Although accidents were reportedly minor, the sheriff's department investigated several serious accidents during the weekend, including one which resulted in fatal injuries to a 46-year-old Rolling Hills man. Donald L. Bramlett, fatally Deaths injured in an 8:20 p.m. accident Saturday, died shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday in Good Shepherd Hospital, Barrington. According to sheriff's police, preliminary investigation revealed that the Bramlett vehicle was westbound on West Rawson Bridge Road when it struck a/ractor-trailer truck backing utf on to Hilltop Road. \ Oakwood Hills police and Cary fire and rescue crews also responded to the accident call, sheriff's police report. No citations were issued. • A statewide travelers' ad­ visory was issued on both Monday and Tuesday, and the National Weather Service said there were reports of 3 to 4 in­ ches of snow in northern and west central Illinois. Russell Bailey, 30, Silver Lakes, Wis. reported he was driving his vehicle eastbound on Ringwood Road and attempted to turn left on Solon Road when he lost control of his vehicle ana went into a snowband. Bailey was charged with no valid drivers license and a March 5 court date set. At 2:24 p.m. county police investigated damage to a home under construction on Oriole in McHenry. Traxler, 83, of Mc- Cullom Lake, McHenry, died Monday, Feb. 11, 1985, in Nor­ thern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry. He was born in Kansas Feb. 14, 1901. Formerly of Chicago, Mr. Traxler had been a summer resident of McCullom Lake for 20 years prior to moving there permanently 30 years ago. He was a retired baker and had worked at Riverside Bakery, McHenry. Surviving are his wife Ber- niece (Dorneden); and a brother, Robert (Rachel) Traxler of Alabama. A Funeral Mass will be con­ ducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Patrick Catholic Church, McHenry, With burial in St. Pa t r i ck ' s Coun t rys ide Cemetery. Orlo McMahon Orlo McMahon, 73, of Wonder Lake, died Sunday evening, Feb. 10,1985, in St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin, 111. He was born Jan. 16, 1912, in Findlay, Ohio. His wife Ruth preceded him in death June 1, 1979. Survivors are two daughters,. Mrs. Ralph (Linda) Kraeplin of Wonder Lake and Mrs. Harlan (Ruth Ann) Ernst of Coal City, 111.; a sister, Caroline Parker of Dayton, Ohio; and three brothers, Raymond McMahon of Toledo, Ohio, Richard McMahon of Findlay, Ohio and Don Mc­ Mahon of Baltimore, Md. A memorial service will be held at a future date.
