Oratorio singers start rehearsals New voices are being sought to join The New Oratorio Singers as they begin rehearsals for their April 14 concert. Under the baton of Thomas Wikman, respected organist and conductor also of Music of the Baroque in Chicago, the singers will present Bruckner's "Mass No. 3 in F Minor" and Brahms' "Alto Rhapsody" for alto and men's chorus, instrumentalists are members of the Chicago Symphony and Lyric Opera orchestras. Though the concert will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstock, rehearsals are being held every Monday evening from 7:30 to 10:30 at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Barrington, at the corner of Dundee Avenue and Hillside. Current chorus members hail from Evanston, Chicago, McHenry, Schaumburg, Libertyville and all points between. Census to ask about unemployment The Census Bureau will collect current unemployment data in the area the week of February 18 to 23, according to Stanley D. Moore, director of the Census Bureau's Chicago regional office. The local data will contribute to February's national unem­ ployment picture to be released on March 8 by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The Census Bureau's monthly Current Population Survey includes a national sample of some 71,000 households and is sponsored by BLS primarily to gather employment and unemployment data. In­ formation supplied by in­ dividuals surveyed is kept confidential by law. Only statistical totals are published. The survey showed a national civilian unemployment rate of 7.2 percent in December 1984, which meant that 107.9 million workers out of a labor force of 116.2 million had jobs.
