"By taking the initative and aggressively courting Japanese firms on their turf, Illinois has demonstrated a commitment to becoming a leading investment partner with Japan." "Top officials of four Japanese firms have given me their personal assurances that they will be setting up operations in Illinois within the next few months." Three of the four firms-- Mitsuboshi Belting Co., Fujisawa Pharmaceutical Co. and Mitsubishi Engines North America Inc.-are ready to go public with their Illinois projects, and one other (an industrial machines distributor) expects to make a formal an nouncement soon.
